This product data sheet provides some general comments
about the ability of Thermoplastic Polyurethane's to resist attack by various
chemicals. The screening guide on the following pages provides broad ratings to help
you evaluate the product's ability to meet your requirements. In general, polyester-
or polyether-based TPUs resist attack by ozone, hydrocarbons, moderate chemicals,
oils, fats, fuels, and greases. However, you may wish to test the belts ability to
resist the attacks of concentrated acid, ketones, esters, nitro, and chlorinated
hydrocarbons. This screening guide provides rating that should be considered general
guidelines for usage with the listed chemicals and fluids. These ratings are based
on actual test results, published literature ,and our
considered opinions and field experience.
In actual use, the service temperature,
coefficient of friction, and the material conveyed will play significant roles in
the performance of our belting products. Consequently, while this guide can serve
as a first pass screening tool, careful testing of the belt selection under actual
usage conditions is essential. No guarantees regarding the accuracy of these ratings
are given or implied.
